Cadets and students of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, along with students of the Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev, took part in the online lecture “Decolonization of Culture: How to Reclaim Identity.”

The event was organized by the public organization “Agency of Cultural Practices.”

The meeting was opened by Natalia Karnaukh, Head of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Work of DSUIA, Police Lieutenant Colonel. She emphasized the importance of shaping national identity among the younger generation, noting that understanding one’s own culture and history is the foundation for nurturing conscious citizens and future law enforcement officers capable of representing Ukraine with dignity.

In her lecture, Yulia Roshchyna revealed how colonial thinking, for centuries, had shaped the notions of “value” and “inferiority,” embedding them in language, art, and everyday mindset. She focused on ways to overcome these stereotypes, regain dignity, and reclaim the right to be bearers of one’s own culture.

The key themes of the lecture included:

● Decolonization as a path to wholeness and inner freedom;

● Memory that heals and empowers rather than wounds;

● Harmony between the microcosm of personality and the macrocosm of history.

The event became an important step in fostering a conscious attitude among young people toward their own history and culture.
