The event took place on October 27 with the support of the Department for the Organization of Research Activities. It was organized for members of the DSUIA Scientific Society and all those interested in scientific work.
Research activities of higher education applicants, including participation in research competitions, are an integral part of the educational process in Ukraine. Therefore, familiarizing students with the preparation, formatting, and defense of competitive research papers is of great importance.

Senior Research Associate of the Research Organization Department, Olena Shkurko, introduced participants to the annual competitions in which DSUIA students traditionally take part, providing general information about four of them.
Special attention was given to the competition for research papers among undergraduate students of higher education institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The first round of this competition is being held at DSUIA from October 8 to December 20, 2025. Participants were informed about the main provisions, organization procedures, preparation stages, and formatting requirements for their research papers.

Last year’s MIA competition prize-winners — Hanna Terekhova and Olena Lukianenko, 4th-year students of the Faculty for Training Specialists in Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police, and Rostyslav Khomenko, a 3rd-year student of the Faculty for Training Specialists in Criminal Police Units — shared their experiences in conducting quality research. They also provided practical advice to this year’s participants on selecting materials, cooperating with academic supervisors, and preparing for paper defenses.

The information gained during the seminar will be useful not only for writing competition papers but also for preparing theses, scientific articles, term papers, and graduation projects, as it aims to develop essential research knowledge and skills.
