“Topical Issues of Pre-Trial Investigation and Combating Crime in Modern Conditions”: a Scientific and Practical Conference at DSUIA

The event was organized by the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The conference was opened by the Vice-Rector of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Police Colonel Oleksandr Yunin. He emphasized the importance of the topics under discussion, particularly in the context of the challenges of martial law, and wished the participants productive work.

The meeting was moderated by Professor of the Department of Criminalistics and Pre-Medical Training Ihor Pyrih.

The participants were welcomed by the Head of the 3rd Department of the 4th Directorate of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine, PhD in Law, Police Major Maksym Romanov; and Deputy Head of the Directorate – Head of the Support Department of the Main Inspectorate of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv Region, Police Colonel Serhii Butko.

About 150 participants took part in the conference, including representatives of law enforcement agencies, academia, the scientific and expert community, and veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war from various regions of Ukraine (Dnipro, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions, and Kyiv).

During the conference, participants discussed current issues of pre-trial investigation and combating crime in modern conditions, analyzing a range of key aspects from the perspectives of Ukrainian scholars and practitioners. In particular, the discussion addressed the role of criminal law in ensuring peace and international order, the specifics of qualifying unauthorized dissemination of information about the routes and movement of weapons, armaments, and ammunition to Ukraine, as well as the movement or deployment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations during martial or emergency law. Special attention was given to issues of criminal proceedings in cases of missing persons under special circumstances, as well as to the legal aspects of international cooperation in criminal proceedings under martial law.
