“Pumpkin Recipes from My Grandma”: Students of Dnipro Lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs named after O. Hostishchev Held a Brochure Contest

MIA Lyceum

The event took place as part of the thematic week “Autumn MOOD-WEEK” with the goal of popularizing traditional Ukrainian cuisine.

As part of the contest, each platoon presented two hand-made brochures in which students shared family recipes for pumpkin-based dishes. After the presentations, the lyceum students tested their wit by participating in the quizzes “Pumpkin Curiosities” and “Guess the Dish by the Recipe.”

Winners were selected in three categories: “Most Creative Brochure Design,” “Most Delicious Pumpkin Recipe,” and “Grandma’s Highlight.” The latter recognized the best baked goods recipes — fragrant pies and sweet cookies.

According to the event organizer, social pedagogue of the Department for Educational Work and Socio-Psychological Support, Svitlana Kushnikova, such initiatives not only help preserve the culinary heritage of Ukrainian families but also develop students’ creativity and strengthen family values, including respect for the work and wisdom of older generations.

The Autumn Week at the lyceum was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the student creative association “Cherry Orchard,” members of the lyceum’s self-government, and the teaching staff.
