21 November in Ukraine celebrate Day of Dignity and Freedom — a date that unites the beginning of two revolutions that changed the country and finally determined its European course. During this date Ukraine honors the Heroes of the Orange Revolution and the Revolution of Dignity.
This day was established with the aim of preserving and conveying to contemporary and future generations information about fateful events in Ukraine at the beginning of the XXI century affirmation of ideals of freedom and democracy as well as paying tribute to the patriotism and courage of citizens who in autumn 2004 and in November 2013 – February 2014 stood up for the defense of democratic values rights and freedoms of man and citizen national interests of our state and its European choice.
Day of Dignity and Freedom — a day when Ukraine remembers the path of struggle for the highest values that need to be preserved. According to historians Maidans are peak moments when the struggle for these key values concentrates in time and places of mass protests. However after victories on Maidans society has the duty daily to defend the protected ideals with its work and civic position.
The slogan of this year’s celebration became “Day of Dignity and Freedom — every day without days off”.
Every day of a warrior “at zero” when the enemy once again receives a rebuff is Day of Dignity and Freedom. Every day when Ukrainians help the AFU engage in volunteer activity support those who are in difficulty when conscientiously work for the development of Ukraine — is Day of Dignity and Freedom. And the day of Victory will be a day of Dignity and Freedom.
