DSUIA Team “Guardians of Transparency” – Bronze Medalists of the All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Moot Court

NEWS

Representatives of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs won third place among the best legal teams in the country.

The team consisted of 4th-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine: Hanna Terekhova, Oleksandr Yarovyi, and Olena Lukianenko. The participants worked under the mentorship of Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Police Major Viktoriia Rohalska.

Around 100 teams from various higher education institutions across Ukraine took part in the competition. Only 72 of them successfully completed the tasks of the first round — providing criminal law qualification based on the given case and preparing a video with justification of their legal positions. After evaluation, 10 teams advanced to the second stage, with DSUIA becoming the only representative of the higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system.

The second round took place in Ivano-Frankivsk and included practical exercises on conducting searches and interrogations. The moot court judges included NABU detectives, SAP prosecutors, lawyers, lecturers, and representatives of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative. At this stage, the DSUIA team demonstrated an exceptional level of preparation, scoring the highest points among all teams for conducting an interrogation using the procedural interview methodology studied during academic and extracurricular classes in criminal procedure.

Based on the overall results of the competition, the “Guardians of Transparency” reached the final together with the joint team of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, as well as the team of the Ukrainian Catholic University. The DSUIA team won 3rd place and was awarded an honorary cup, certificates, and invitations to participate in the NABU Anti-Corruption Summer School.

This achievement is a vivid testament to the high level of training DSUIA cadets receive in criminal procedure, forensic science, and criminal law, as well as to their professionalism, dedication, and readiness to implement the principles of integrity and the rule of law in practical work.
