The All-Ukrainian Campaign “16 Days Against Violence” Launched at the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs

NEWS

This international initiative annually unites educational institutions and public organizations with the aim of drawing attention to the problems of physical, psychological, sexual, economic, and gender-based violence.

The campaign traditionally runs from November 25 to December 10, covering the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Human Rights Day.

As part of the campaign, DSUIA will host lectures, trainings, and interactive sessions over the 16-day period, all aimed at increasing the legal and psychological awareness of learners. For cadets and students, specialized trainings on recognizing and countering domestic violence will be held with the participation of police officers and university psychologists. There will also be self-defense workshops for women. University departments will organize conferences and academic meetings dedicated to preventing violence and promoting gender equality in the security sector. Throughout this period, workshops, master classes, and psychological activities will take place, along with photo exhibitions and displays on campus. All events are aimed at fostering zero tolerance for any form of violence among young people and developing skills for safe and responsible behavior.

Since the beginning of russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine, Ukrainians have faced an unprecedented level of war-related violence. Ukrainian legislation provides measures to counter domestic and gender-based violence and to protect the rights of individuals affected by such acts.

Ukraine enforces the Law “On Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence,” and since early 2019 domestic violence has been classified as a criminal offense in the country.

As a sign of support, people around the world wear an orange ribbon on their clothing. This is the official color of combating violence, symbolizing a bright and free future.
