«Causes of gender-based violence in conditions of martial law, in particular domestic violence»: meeting of the scientific circle at DSUIA

The event was held by the Department of Criminal Procedure for third-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine within the framework of the All-Ukrainian campaign «16 Days Against Violence».

The event was held with the aim of increasing awareness of future employees of the National Police of Ukraine regarding the problems of domestic violence in Ukraine, ways of prevention, as well as legal regulation of this phenomenon.

Speakers were associate professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure of DSUIA, police major, Candidate of Legal Sciences, associate professor Alina Harkusha, senior lecturer of the Department of Criminal Procedure of DSUIA, police lieutenant colonel Yuliia Shendryk and inspector for human rights compliance of Police Department No. 2 of Dnipro District Police Administration No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, police major Tetiana Badalova.

Yuliia Shendryk told the cadets about the All-Ukrainian campaign «16 Days Against Violence», focusing their attention on the peculiarities of conducting pre-trial investigation of criminal offences involving violence, in particular domestic.

Tetiana Badalova focused attention on issues regarding non-discriminatory approach to representatives of LGBT communities, persons of Roma national minority during the performance by police officers of official duties.

In turn, Alina Harkusha emphasized statistical data, drew attention to forms and manifestations of gender-based violence, in particular domestic violence, as well as to the latency of this phenomenon and the complexity of its overcoming, especially in conditions of martial law.

Thanks to the holding of the circle meeting, cadets increased awareness in issues of recognition of forms and manifestations of gender-based violence, domestic violence, as well as worked out algorithms of response to such manifestations.
