Emergency Care for Children: An Elective Class for Trainees of the DDUVS Police Academy

NEWS

The event was held with the aim of improving practical skills in providing assistance to children with injuries at the pre-hospital stage.

The training session for the trainees was conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Tactical and Special Training of DDUVS, PhD in Law, Police Major Stanislava Myroniuk, and Instructor of the General Professional Training Cycle of the Zaporizhzhia Police Academy of DDUVS, Police Captain Mykola Drok, within the framework of an experience exchange program between specialized departments of the university.

The instructors provided a detailed overview of the specifics of delivering aid to preschool- and school-age children, as well as to adults, emphasizing the key differences in carrying out primary emergency measures. Particular attention was paid to the specifics of working with children, as this group requires a special approach and prompt yet careful actions.

Participants of the elective were shown action algorithms for various types of injuries, given practical recommendations on overcoming stress and fear while providing assistance, and explained how to maintain self-control. The relevance of the topic is driven by the increase in traumatic incidents among the civilian population, particularly children, due to hostile attacks.

The elective became an important step in the training of police officers, who must be ready to respond promptly and provide effective assistance to the most vulnerable categories of the population.
