Stress as a Resource: Training for “Police Academy” Participants of DSUIA

NEWS

The event was conducted by the Department of Psychological Support of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

During the psychological training “Stress as a Resource. Through Challenges to Growth”, emphasis was placed on the fact that, according to psychologists, stress is not a weakness, but a natural reaction to difficult service conditions.

During the training, participants of the “Police Academy” analyzed typical stressful situations of official activity, learned to recognize their own psycho-emotional states, become aware of their reactions and find internal resources for restoring psychological balance.

According to DSUIA psychologist Alina Horodnychenko, the goal of the training is to form in future police officers an understanding that the ability to manage one’s own psychological state is no less important professional skill than professional training. In the specialist’s opinion, stress cannot be completely eliminated, but it is possible and necessary to learn how to work with it.

Particular attention was focused on the prevention of emotional burnout, development of self-regulation skills and responsible attitude towards one’s own mental health.

“Psychological resilience is the foundation of a police officer’s professional reliability. It is precisely such trainings that allow laying the foundation of endurance, self-control and readiness to act effectively under conditions of increased service load”, – added the Head of the Department of Psychological Support of DSUIA Serhii Vyshnevskyi.

Conducting such events is not only training, but also the formation of support, awareness and internal psychological support for future law enforcement officers.
