The round table was dedicated to the exchange of best practices in the implementation of veterans’ policy in higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine system.
On the basis of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, a round table was held on the issues of implementing veterans’ policy in higher education institutions under the management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as well as in higher military educational institutions of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine.
The purpose of the event was to present best practices in the implementation of veterans’ policy in higher education institutions of the MIA system bodies of Ukraine and to discuss mechanisms for their implementation.
The event was attended by the Acting Rector of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs Ihor Mahdalina.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Inna Yashchuk addressed the participants of the round table with a welcoming speech. During the event, the Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on Veterans’ Policy Dmytro Finashyn informed about the activities of assistants to heads on work with veterans in departmental higher education institutions.


The Director of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the MIA of Ukraine, Police Captain Oleksandr Tarasenko raised the issue of the state of implementation of veterans’ policy in higher education institutions of the MIA system.
The discussion was also joined by assistants to the heads of higher education institutions and representatives of specialized departments of universities and academies of the MIA, SES, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and National Guard of Ukraine systems, who presented their own practical experience of working with veterans.
The work of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs in this direction was reported by the Vice-Rector, Police Colonel Ihor Kovalov. He drew the attention of those present to the fact that DSUIA has been systematically working for two years on the development of veterans’ sports in the region and functions as a center where military veterans and persons with disabilities can realize themselves in sports activities, obtain education, and choose a new path through employment.






Following the results of the round table, the participants noted the importance of interagency cooperation, a systematic approach to the implementation of veterans’ policy in higher education institutions, and the need for further exchange of effective practices for supporting veterans.
