New Opportunities for Mobility: Graduate of DSUIA Barrier-Free Driving School Received Driver’s License

NEWS

In Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, a solemn presentation of a driver’s license took place to the next graduate of the Barrier-Free Driving School. The category “B” document was presented by the Head of the University’s Automotive Training Department, war veteran Yevhenii Khokhlov.

Svitlana works in the field of logistics and is raising a small child. Since birth, the graduate has had a disability — a congenital defect of the upper limb. For many years, the woman dreamed of having her own driver’s license, but for a long time it was impossible to realize this dream due to the lack of accessible learning conditions.

Svitlana recently learned about the existence of DSUIA’s Barrier-Free Driving School from the Internet, submitted documents and began training. She completed theoretical training directly at the driving school base, while practical skills were mastered under the guidance of qualified instructors who took into account the functional peculiarities of her health condition.

“At first it was difficult to feel the dimensions and confidently drive the car,” — says Svitlana. “But with each lesson I felt more and more confident. The instructor very patiently and professionally helped me adapt to driving.”

Having successfully passed the theoretical and practical exam, Svitlana received the long-awaited category “B” driver’s license.

Currently, the woman is on maternity leave, but she is already planning to actively use the new opportunities: visit her parents, have free movement with the child, and also use her own transport in professional activities.

DSUIA Barrier-Free Driving School continues to help veterans, military personnel and people with disabilities gain new opportunities for self-realization and independence.
