The event was conducted jointly with representatives of the Regional Service Center of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
The Head of the Automotive Training Department of DSUIA, war veteran Yevhenii Khokhlov, told the center’s patients about the university’s activities, conditions for obtaining higher education and opportunities for further employment, including within the educational institution.
Attention was drawn to the development of veterans’ sports at DSUIA. Yevhenii Khokhlov noted that any military veteran and person with a disability can participate in table tennis and pétanque training sessions, as well as work out in the gym. It was separately emphasized that the first wheelchair adaptive basketball team in the MIA system of Ukraine has been created, and its training sessions continue at the DSUIA base.
Special focus was placed on the work of the DSUIA Barrier-Free Driving School. Meeting participants learned about the categories of driver training for persons with disabilities, the features of the equipment of training vehicles and the procedure for undergoing training. Patients also received information about the procedure for receiving services at MIA service centers and the possibility of vehicle adaptation.
Patients of the Superhumans center communicated with the driver-instructor and inspected a specially adapted vehicle used for practical classes.
Conducting such events contributes to the social reintegration of war veterans and persons with disabilities, expands their opportunities for professional development and independent mobility, and also demonstrates the practical implementation of the principles of barrier-free environment in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
