NEWS

A class took place at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs for cadets of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Training Specialists for Preventive Activity Units of the National Police of Ukraine within the framework of the optional course “Community Safety Under Martial Law Conditions”.

The event was organized by the Department of International Cooperation of DSUIA. The speakers for the lecture on the topic “European Approaches and Comparative Practice in the Field of Preventing and Responding to Domestic and Gender-Based Violence” were Advisor of the Advisory Mission of the European Union in Ukraine on Police-Community Interaction Annika Svensson and Senior Advisor of EUAM on General Police Activities Arsenijs Mihejevs.

During the class, the issue of crisis communication as one of the key areas of police officers’ activities during service in communities was raised. Effective tools of crisis communication and establishing dialogue both with offenders and with victims were considered. Scenarios of police actions in various cases of official activity were also worked through.

Such events give cadets the opportunity to become familiar with the best European practices, deepen their understanding of the partnership approach to ensuring public safety, form skills of effective police interaction with the community, increase the level of public trust in law enforcement officers and prepare for the real challenges of service under martial law conditions.
