At the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, weekly table tennis training sessions for military veterans are held on a regular basis. The sessions are organized by the Department of Special Physical Training with comprehensive support from the university leadership.

The training sessions have been conducted for over two years: during this time, a stable group of participants has been formed, for whom the training has become not only an element of physical rehabilitation but also a space for team interaction and communication. The athletes are trained by Vasyl Koval, Champion of Ukraine in table tennis.

As part of the training process, modern sports equipment is used, in particular a ball-shooting machine that allows technical elements to be practiced without a sparring partner and increases the effectiveness of individual training. This enables the coach to promptly analyze and correct the athletes’ mistakes.

Specialists note that table tennis is a low-injury sport that has a positive effect on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, coordination of movements, vision, cognitive functions, and overall physical condition. In addition, regular training promotes the socialization of veterans and motivation for an active lifestyle.
The training sessions are conducted within the framework of the project of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine — Friendly Support.
