A special chess event featuring university veterans took place at Sports School No. 9 in the city of Dnipro, organized by the Dnipro Chess Federation.

Their opponent was Myron Netrebko — an 8-year-old World Chess Champion, who held a simultaneous exhibition on 20 boards.
DSUIA veterans Andrii Shevchenko and Viacheslav Pryvalov joined the intellectual match as part of the chess event, which had not only a sporting dimension but also significant social and rehabilitative importance.
The young chess player moved from board to board in turn, demonstrating high concentration, composure, and confidence, while the participants responded with experience, strategic thinking, and genuine competitive spirit.

The event became a platform for live communication, positive emotions, and mutual support. The veterans noted that playing with a world champion was a motivating and inspiring experience for them, combining intellectual activity with emotional recovery.

At DSUIA, it is emphasized that such initiatives are an important component of the university’s veteran program, as they promote socialization, support mental health, and foster a community where sport and communication become tools of recovery.
