Professional Identity: Training for DSUIA Cadets

NEWS

The event was conducted by specialists of the Psychological Support Unit of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs for third-year саdets.

The aim of the training was to strengthen cadets’ ability to make responsible decisions, promote personal growth and psychological readiness for the chosen profession, as well as to prevent intrapersonal conflicts and professional burnout among future law enforcement officers.

Through art therapy exercises, participants were able to interpret their subconscious perceptions, beliefs, and feelings, and integrate them into a holistic professional self-image. During the group discussion, cadets conducted a retrospective analysis of personal changes that had occurred throughout their acquisition of professional experience. Afterwards, they identified their own reserves for professional and personal growth, as well as ways to implement them.

According to the Head of the Psychological Support Unit, Serhii Vyshnevskyi, a conscious attitude toward professional identity is the foundation for forming the high moral and legal values of a future police officer. In turn, adherence to such values contributes to increasing psychological resilience in difficult, extreme, and conflict situations that officers of the National Police of Ukraine face on a daily basis.
