Legal Education and Pre-Medical Aid: A Meeting with a Veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian War Took Place at DSUIA

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion, a lecture session was held for students of the Educational and Research Institute of Law and Innovative Education of DSUIA with the participation of veteran Serhii Basinov.

The event, titled “The Right to Life in Times of War: Responsibility, Resilience, and Pre-Medical Aid,” was organized with the support of the Department of Theory of State and Law within the academic discipline “International Protection of Human Rights.” The focus was placed on the protection of fundamental human rights during armed conflict, the importance of personal responsibility of every citizen, and readiness to act in critical situations.

During the meeting, Serhii Basinov not only shared his personal combat experience and the realities of military service with the students but also conducted a practical briefing on providing pre-medical aid. In particular, the serviceman demonstrated the algorithm for correctly applying a tourniquet in cases of massive bleeding, explained the basic rules for stopping bleeding, emphasized common mistakes, and stressed that timely and proper actions can save lives.

Participants actively engaged in the discussion, asking questions about the legal status of servicemen, guarantees of their social protection, and the state’s responsibility to ensure the right to life and security under martial law. Special interest was generated by the practical skills training under the guidance of an experienced military serviceman.

Serhii Basinov also met with the Director of the Institute, Volodymyr Shablystyi, and presented a battle flag as a symbol of courage, brotherhood, and gratitude for the support.

Аccording to the organizers, such meetings are an important component of national-patriotic education of youth, the development of legal culture, and the acquisition of practical competencies necessary for the professional activities of future lawyers and for everyday life amid contemporary challenges.
