The event was held at the House of Trade Unions by the Department of Special Physical Training of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs on the initiative and with the support of the university administration.


Veterans of DSUIA — Ivan Zmiievskyi, Yevhen Ratkov, Serhii Shtym, Oleksandr Hryshchuk, and Ihor Krasnoshlyk — told representatives of veterans’ associations of Dnipropetrovsk region about the sport of pétanque, its rules, features, and significant benefits for health and rehabilitation.
Participants learned how exactly pétanque helps develop coordination, accuracy, concentration, as well as contributes to social integration and psychological relief. DSUIA veterans demonstrated throwing techniques, shared training experience, and talked about the successes of the university’s veterans’ team, which has repeatedly won prize places in all-Ukrainian competitions.
Representatives of veterans’ associations had the opportunity to try their hand at pétanque themselves, participate in friendly throws, and feel the atmosphere of the game.
Such events contribute to the active rehabilitation and social adaptation of veterans, popularization of adaptive sports, strengthening of the veterans’ community of Dnipropetrovsk region, formation of a healthy lifestyle, and further integration of Ukraine’s defenders into civilian society.
