“Poetic Aroma”: Literary Readings Held at DSUIA on the Day of the Native Language

NEWS

The event, organized by the Department of Language Training, united cadets and students of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

Particular attention was drawn to the presentation “The Sorrowful Calendar of the Ukrainian Language”, which presented key facts about the struggle for the Ukrainian word — from the decrees of Peter I to the resolutions of the Soviet era and the restoration of the status of the state language in independent Ukraine.

The program included recitation of classics’ poems, modern works, the humorous sketch “Kukhlyk”, a staged scene in a train about the advantages of the Ukrainian language, and performance of song numbers that highlighted the melodiousness and richness of the native word.

The culmination was a philological brain-ring between teams of participants, where they competed in contests: “Business Card”, “Warm-up”, “Secret Phraseologisms”, “Puzzles from the Barrel”, “Blitz Survey”, “Know the Alphabet”, “Continue the Proverb” and “Translation”. The winners received sweet prizes, and all players received positive emotions and new knowledge.

Such events contribute to in-depth study of the native language, cultivation of patriotism, development of erudition, critical thinking and team spirit, as well as the formation among future law enforcement officers of a conscious attitude toward Ukrainian culture, national identity and spiritual values of the Ukrainian people.
