Classes within extracurricular activities were conducted by university specialists for students of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine.

Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology, Police Lieutenant Colonel Yuliia Khrystova, held an elective course on the topic “Criminal Offenses Against Peace, Human Security, and International Legal Order.” During the session, cadets examined key problematic issues related to the qualification of war crimes in Ukraine, particularly through examples from investigative and judicial law enforcement practice.
Special attention was given to practical approaches to avoiding typical mistakes, taking into account international standards and the practice of the International Criminal Court. Participants outlined ways to address existing problems in law enforcement and identified перспективні directions for further scientific research in this field.
Practical skills, considering the specifics of documenting war crimes, were practiced by students at the university’s training ground under the guidance of specialists from the Department of Criminal Procedure. As part of the training, a crime scene examination by investigators under martial law conditions was simulated.

Future law enforcement officers worked with forensic equipment, including tools for recording and collecting evidentiary information. Particular attention was paid to practicing techniques for remote crime scene examination using an unmanned aerial vehicle.


Cadets improved their level of preparation in drafting scene diagrams attached to crime scene inspection reports, studying requirements for their accuracy and completeness. They also deepened their knowledge regarding the organization of interaction between various police units involved in documenting war crimes, which is an important component of effective and high-quality investigation.
