The event took place in the city of Dnipro with the support of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine and was aimed at strengthening human rights approaches in criminal proceedings.
Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology of DSUIA, Police Lieutenant Colonel Anton Marienko, participated in a one-day specialized training “Promotion of Human Rights Approaches to Victim-Oriented Justice and Building Cases on Crimes Committed Against the LGBTQI+ Community”.
Participants deepened their knowledge regarding victim-oriented justice, features of documenting and investigating crimes motivated by bias against LGBTQI+ persons, avoiding discrimination and ensuring an impartial approach in the justice process, as well as integrating international human rights standards into national practice. As a result of the training, all participants received the corresponding certificates.
Anton Marienko’s participation in the training is part of the systematic work of DSUIA to improve the qualifications of the teaching staff and prepare future specialists of the law enforcement system for the challenges of modern society.
The acquired knowledge and skills will be used in the educational process during the teaching of the disciplines “Criminal Law” and “Criminology”, as well as in scientific-research work and practical training of cadets and students.
