Institutionalization of the Veteran Movement in Ukraine: Scientific Club Meeting

NEWS

A meeting of the scientific club dedicated to current aspects of the institutionalization of the veteran movement in Ukraine as a component of state policy and social cohesion was held at the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Pedagogy of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The head of the club, Head of the Department Nataliia Komykh, invited cadets to consider the topic from three perspectives, each presented by club participants.

A presentation on the state’s perspective was prepared by third-year cadet of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Units of the National Police of Ukraine, Yuliia Tolmachova, who emphasized the importance of a systematic veteran policy, coordination of support programs, and the role of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in developing the regulatory framework and social protection mechanisms.

The veterans’ perspective was presented by second-year cadet Dmytro Kobylynskyi. He raised issues related to the development of veteran communities, entrepreneurship, support spaces (including the experience of Veteran Hub), and participation in community life.

A separate part of the meeting included testing the interactive game “Veteran Reintegration. Conversation,” developed by specialists of the Folke Bernadotte Academy (Kingdom of Sweden). The game allowed cadets to simulate complex communication situations related to veterans’ return to civilian life and develop skills of constructive dialogue and professional interaction.

The discussion demonstrated that the institutionalization of the veteran movement is not only a matter of social support, but also an important element of national security, building trust, and strengthening the internal resilience of the state.
