Digital Safety: Workshop for Students of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs

On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, a binary class in the discipline “Information Technologies” was held at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The event was conducted by the Head of the Cybercrime Counteraction Department in Dnipropetrovsk Region of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, Police Major Dmytro Danchenko, jointly with lecturers of the Department of Information Technologies of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs – Professor Oleksandr Diskovskyi and Associate Professor Yuliia Synytsina.

During the workshop, students and cadets examined current threats in the digital environment, including phishing attacks, fraud on social networks, account hacking, and the spread of malicious software. Particular attention was paid to action algorithms in the event of detecting cyber incidents, the rules for recording digital evidence, and the basics of cyber hygiene.

In the format of analyzing real cases, participants became acquainted with the practice of investigating cybercrimes, common user mistakes, and modern methods of personal data protection. Dmytro Danchenko shared key recommendations on safe use of the Internet.

Conducting such binary classes contributes to combining theoretical training with the practical experience of cyber police units, develops up-to-date competencies in the field of digital security among students, and enhances their readiness to counter cyber threats in their future professional activities.
