Veterans of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs Participated in the Winter Championship of the All-Ukrainian Veterans Pétanque League

The two-day tournament took place in Ternopil with the support of the Pétanque Federation of Ukraine. Military veterans who train at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs competed in the event.

A total of 32 veteran teams — 96 participants from different regions of Ukraine — competed for a place in the playoffs. The university was represented by Ivan Zmiievskyi, Serhii Shtym, and Vitalii Krysan, who competed in the triplet format.

The veterans demonstrated достойно in competitive matches, showing coordinated teamwork, endurance, strategic thinking, and high concentration. In every game, the athletes confirmed that systematic training and the support of the university community produce tangible results.

According to the participants themselves, pétanque is an effective tool for physical and psychological rehabilitation. The game promotes the development of coordination, fine motor skills, restoration of balance and endurance, while also helping to reduce stress levels, rebuild social connections, and feel team support.

Such tournaments are of great importance, as they unite veterans from across the country, promote adaptive sports, and demonstrate effective mechanisms of reintegration through physical activity. The participation of the “DDUVS Veterans” team in nationwide competitions confirms the consistent support of veterans at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs and contributes to building a strong and cohesive community of like-minded individuals.
