Features of Providing Psychological Assistance: Master Class at DSUIA

The event was organized by the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The meeting was opened by Professor of the Department Viktoriia Savishchenko. Students studying under the educational program “Psychology” met with the officer of the Department of Psychological Support of the 31st Brigade named after Major General Oleksandr Radiyevskyi of the National Guard of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant Maryna Luhova, and the Head of the Psychological Support Service of Military Unit 3054 of the National Guard of Ukraine, Lieutenant Oleksandra Fishchenko.

The specialists shared their own practical experience of working with fighters who have experienced combat stress, traumatic events and complex adaptation processes. During the meeting, innovative methods of psychological support were presented, including techniques for stabilizing emotional state, elements of crisis counseling, methods for developing stress resistance and psychological education.

Particular attention was paid to the use of short-term interventions that help military personnel quickly restore psychological balance. Psychologists of the National Guard of Ukraine also demonstrated practical exercises for stress regulation and self-control in extreme conditions. The students asked questions and received advice regarding their future professional activities in the field of psychological assistance. Participants learned about the specifics of the work of a military psychologist, features of communication with military personnel and their families.

The acquired information contributed to the formation in students of an understanding of the psychological needs of military personnel and the development of skills for providing support in crisis situations. This also strengthened their motivation for further professional development in the field of psychological assistance and rehabilitation.

Such events are an important element of professional training for students, as they combine theoretical knowledge with real practical experience.
