The event was organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure and the Department of Administrative-Law Disciplines and Public Administration of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of DSUIA for the acquisition of practical skills by police officers and higher education applicants.
The invited speaker was Judge of the Samarskyi District Court of the City of Dnipro, Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor Viacheslav Harkusha.
The subject of consideration were model court cases prepared by patrol police officers from Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts who are undergoing advanced training, as well as trainees of the Department of Organization of Advanced Training and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning who were newly recruited to the National Police of Ukraine, namely cases of administrative offense provided for by Article 173-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Ukraine “Commission of Domestic Violence”.
Students of the 3rd year, specialty 262 “Law Enforcement Activity” of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education of DSUIA were also present at the class.
A model court session is an important form of advanced training for police officers, during which law enforcement officers can more thoroughly master the norms of substantive and procedural law and develop practical skills in conducting court proceedings. The conditions of the session are as close as possible to real ones — the model court process took place at the training ground “Courtroom”.
Police officers acted in the roles of victims, witnesses, offenders and other participants in the proceedings. Evidence was examined to establish the presence or absence of circumstances relevant to the resolution of the case.
The participants acquired practical skills and highly appreciated the gained experience.
