The class was conducted by Associate Professor of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy of DSUIA, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Inna Shynkarenko jointly with a specialist on protection issues of the international humanitarian mission FHI 360 Lolita Bilaenko.

During the event, cadets analyzed psychological risks of police officers’ professional activity under conditions of stress, danger and uncertainty, practiced algorithms of self-regulation and preservation of psychological resilience in crisis situations, and also considered mechanisms of decision-making under conditions of limited time and increased threat.

A separate practical block of issues was devoted to the basic concepts and principles of interaction with persons who have suffered from human trafficking.

Compliance with the principle of “do no harm”, use of safety and confidentiality rules in communication, prevention of re-traumatization, recognition of psychological markers, etc., were discussed.

In addition, the issue of interagency interaction and referral of victims to specialized support services was raised.

Cadets had the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with real experience of the humanitarian mission’s work and to consider practical cases of interaction with vulnerable categories of the population.

Such events contribute to the formation of professional competence, development of empathy, stress resistance and readiness to act effectively and humanely even in extreme conditions.
