The meeting was held by the Department of Psychological Support of DSUIA.
The psychological educational event was conducted by Nataliia SHYNKARENKO, a practical psychologist of the Dnipro Lyceum of Security Orientation and National-Patriotic Education named after O. Hostyschev of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as by the employees of the Department of Psychological Support of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.
The purpose of the event was to form in the lyceum students an understanding of the principles of barrier-free access, the development of tolerance, empathy, and respect for people with disabilities, as well as the awareness of the importance of creating accessible and inclusive environments in society.
The psychologist of DSUIA, Alina HORODNYCHENKO, familiarized the students with the concept of barrier-free access, its main types (physical, informational, social, educational, digital, etc.).
In particular, the children learned about the presence of special elevators installed at the university to implement the principles of barrier-free access, which can be used by persons with disabilities who move in wheelchairs.
During the event, participants discussed, among other things, examples of psychological barriers that people may face in everyday life and ways to overcome these obstacles.
The students participated in interactive exercises aimed at developing empathy, mutual understanding, and support. The participants shared their own thoughts on the importance of creating an environment where everyone has equal opportunities for learning, development, and self-realization.
The head of the Department of Psychological Support of DSUIA, Serhiy VYSHNEVSKY, believes that conducting such events is an important step in educating conscious, responsible, and caring citizens capable of building a society of equal opportunities.
The event contributed to the formation of humanistic values, a culture of mutual respect, and personal responsibility among the lyceum students.
