Emergency Prohibition Order as a Tool to Counter Domestic Violence in the Conditions of Martial Law: Binary Class at DSUIA

The event was organized by the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure of the NNII of Specialists Training for Units of Preventive Activity of NPU, in cooperation with the Department of Continuing Education and Specialization of the Institute of Postgraduate Education and Distance Learning.

During the class, second-year cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Units of Criminal Police of NPU discussed such concepts as “emergency prohibition order” and the procedure for its issuance by police officers. The invited speakers of the meeting were the district police officer of Police Department No.1 of the Dnipro District Police Department No.1 of the National Police of Dnipropetrovsk Region, Lieutenant of Police Ruslan Semenov, and the district police officer of Sheptytsky District Police Department of the National Police of Lviv Region, Senior Lieutenant of Police Viktoria Bohush.

The emergency prohibition order is an effective tool in combating domestic violence. It is issued by the police directly at the scene and may last up to 10 days. Failure to comply with this order results in administrative liability for the abuser.

The police officers shared their gained experience in responding to cases of domestic violence and providing practical assistance to victims of this phenomenon. With the participation of the police officers, the cadets acquired practical skills in responding to cases of domestic violence and clarified the algorithm of actions in case of refusal by the abuser to leave the victim’s residence.

The participants of the event held an active discussion on issues related to the essence of domestic violence, its signs, and the differences from family conflict.

The class sparked significant interest among the cadets in studying the issues of preventing and countering domestic violence, especially in the conditions of martial law.
