Regular training in adaptive wheelchair basketball for military veterans is organized by the Department of Special Physical Training at the initiative and with the support of the leadership of the educational institution.
The classes take place with the participation of the first adaptive basketball team in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, created on the basis of DSUIA. Team members systematically practice technical and tactical elements of the game, increasing the level of physical training and team interaction.
Viacheslav Kaistro — a military veteran, participant of the Invictus Games (“Games of the Unconquered”) — also took part in the training.
According to rehabilitation specialists, basketball contributes to the restoration of mobility, strengthening of muscles, improvement of coordination and reduction of the level of psycho-emotional tension, and the team format of the classes supports the social integration of veterans.
Training of the adaptive basketball team is conducted at DSUIA on a regular basis, every week.
