NEWS, Sport for military veterans

Military veteran and employee of Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs Artem Formalov joined the winter training camp at the Western Rehabilitation and Sports Center of the National Sports Committee for the Disabled of Ukraine.

Twenty male and female veterans from different parts of Ukraine took part in the event. Over the course of 10 days, they participated in training sessions in Paralympic sports, including biathlon, swimming, and table tennis, as well as archery, boccia, and billiards. In addition, they practiced skiing.

Participants worked daily on improving their exercise techniques and developed endurance, coordination, and concentration. The training sessions were conducted by professional coaches and athletes who helped the veterans master the basic skills of Paralympic disciplines, corrected their techniques, and selected workloads according to individual physical abilities.

The guests of the camp were officially welcomed by the Head of the Department of Sports, Youth and Tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Roman Khimiak, who supported the veterans and emphasized the importance of developing veteran sports in Ukraine. On the final day, the veterans climbed to the top of a mountain, where they met the sunrise and performed the National Anthem of Ukraine.

According to Artem Formalov, such events play an important role in the physical and psychological rehabilitation of veterans and also motivate them to further develop in sports. For many participants, the camp became not only a sporting challenge but also a space of support, communication, and mutual understanding with fellow soldiers.

While in Lviv, Artem Formalov honored the memory of fallen law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty at the respective memorial.

“Their courage, devotion to the oath, and self-sacrifice will forever remain an example of honor and service to the Motherland for current and future generations. Eternal memory to the Heroes. Eternal honor to those who gave their lives for Ukraine,” the veteran noted.
