The event was conducted by Inspector of the Analytical Work Department of the Criminal Analysis Directorate of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast, Police Lieutenant Kyrylo Myshko.
Practical classes continue, conducted by employees of the Criminal Analysis Directorates of the Main Directorates of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk oblasts for cadets of the 2nd year of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units of the NPU of DSUIA.
During the event, possibilities of OSINT facial recognition were considered, which, in combination with other methods of open source analysis, enable faster identification of a person, verification of received information and use of results in analytical activities.
Under the guidance of Kyrylo Myshko, cadets engaged in the use of technologies that analyze available databases, social networks and public registers for identification of unidentified persons in photographs or videos.
According to the organizers, such classes are important because, due to the development of digital technologies and the spread of social networks, the amount of photographs in open access is constantly increasing, which significantly expands the possibilities of using OSINT tools for person identification.
In addition, the use of OSINT in combination with facial recognition enables automation of routine processes and focusing resources on the analysis of important data, which increases the overall efficiency and accuracy of the National Police’s work.
