Investigators and detectives from Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk oblasts specializing in the investigation of criminal offenses involving children took part in the event.
The class for police officers undergoing short-term advanced training at DSUIA was conducted by the Advisor on Criminal Investigations of Organized Crime of the EUAM Chris Elliott, the EUAM Specialist on Prosecutorial Reform Nataliia Monych, Head of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Pedagogy Nataliia Komykh, Professors of the Department of Criminal Procedure of DSUIA Volodymyr Fedchenko, Olena Soldatenko and Police Major Viktoriia Rohalska.
The class was organized taking into account that its participants are already experienced specialists engaged in real criminal proceedings. The training took place through the prism of practical experience and current challenges of applying domestic legislation.
Attention was focused on the methodology of conducting procedural interviews, its features in the national legal field, as well as the implementation of a victim-centered approach and principles of humanism in the activities of an investigator.
Key stages of the procedural interview were practiced: planning and preparation; establishing psychological contact; explaining rights and the procedure for conducting the interview; obtaining information; completion and evaluation of results.
Conducting such events contributes to improving the professional skills of investigators, enhancing communication skills and implementing modern standards of effective and ethical pre-trial investigation.
