The second adaptive basketball tournament took place on March 19–20, 2026, in the city of Lviv. The event became the most massive in the entire history of independent Ukraine and the first competition of such a level for the Dnipro team “Veterans’ Basket”.
The competitions were held at the modern sports arena Emily Resort, where the strongest team among representatives from different regions of Ukraine was determined over two days.
Veterans of the Security and Defense Sector took part in the tournament, for whom wheelchair basketball has become an important part of life and contributes to physical and psychological rehabilitation.
For the first adaptive basketball team in the MIA system “Veterans’ Basket”, created at Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs, the “Titans Cup-2026” became their first competitions of such a level. DSUIA was represented by athletes Viacheslav Kaistro, Artem Formalov, Serhii Shtym, Oleh Sakhnov, Serhii Kyrychenko, Rustam Makhmudov, Yevhen Luchko and Andrii Solomin. The team competed under the guidance of coach Kseniia Afanasieva.
On the first day of the competition, the Dnipro team faced representatives of the Lviv team “Titans”, and on the second day they played against the Odesa team “Free Warriors”.

Participants of the tournament were supported by a representative of the Department of Education, Science and Sports of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the leadership, cadets and students of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs and Lviv State University of Life Safety. They had the opportunity to communicate with the “Veterans’ Basket” team in an informal atmosphere, exchange experience and feel the true spirit of sports competition.

Veterans shared that such events inspire them, return them to active life and give them strength to move forward. They called on the veteran community to join sports more boldly, as it is sport that helps overcome barriers.

The participation of the “Veterans’ Basket” team in the “Titans Cup-2026” is evidence of the high skill of the athletes, their dedication and professional approach to adaptive sports, as well as confirmation of the effectiveness of DSUIA’s rehabilitation and sports program, which allows veterans not only to recover physically and psychologically, but also to achieve results at the level of national competitions of the highest class.
We are proud of the participants of the “Veterans’ Basket” team and look forward to new victories!
