A practical lesson on the topic “Pre-medical aid for epilepsy” was held at the methodological classroom of the Department of Criminalistics and Pre-medical Training and at the investigative and forensic training ground of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs.

The lesson was conducted by the acting head of the department, Viktor Pletenets, for cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine. The cadets were introduced to the main causes and manifestations of epilepsy as a chronic neurological disorder, and the key signs of seizures were identified, including convulsions, short-term loss of consciousness, hoarse cries, foaming at the mouth, and others.
Special attention was paid to practical actions in the event of an epileptic seizure: monitoring vital body functions, calling an emergency medical team, organizing police actions both individually and as part of a unit, as well as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other necessary measures depending on the situation..

The lesson concluded with a series of simulated practical exercises during which cadets practiced algorithms for providing assistance to a person experiencing an epileptic seizure. Practical training in pre-medical aid at DSUIA continues to be an important element of cadet training, contributing to the development of their professional competence and readiness to work in complex and critical situations.
