The Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs was represented by Associate Professor of the Department of Tactical and Special Training, Police Major Vadym Fursa.

The training was organized by the company “Global Nuclear Security Partners” and the University of Bristol. All practical and field sessions were held at the Gloucestershire Science and Technology Park in the city of Bristol (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).

The course included lectures on radiological materials, detection equipment, and risk theory. The main focus was on developing skills in using portable, vehicle-mounted, and drone-based radiological detection systems, as well as mastering the methodology of iterative re-survey, advance, assessment, and withdrawal used when working with radioactive materials.

During practical sessions based on scenarios using real radiation sources, participants practiced the use of portable, vehicle-mounted, and drone-based radiological detection systems and mastered the methodology of iterative re-survey, advance, assessment, and withdrawal applied in work with radioactive materials.

The training participants also took part in a joint command-and-staff exercise using the tabletop exercise method based on real locations.

Such events contribute to improving the level of specialized training of DSUIA academic staff, enhancing educational programs in tactical and special training, and strengthening international cooperation in countering nuclear and radiological threats.

The acquired knowledge is planned to be actively used in the training and retraining of future law enforcement officers, as well as in the development of modern educational and methodological materials on radiation safety.
