Use of Video Cameras with Face Recognition Function in the “Safe City” System: Elective Class at DSUIA

Cadets of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Criminal Police Units and the Faculty of Training Specialists for Pretrial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine took part in the event.

The class was conducted by the Inspector of the Department for Control over the Activities of Checkpoint Posts and Interaction with Law Enforcement Agencies of the Preventive Activity Department of the Main Police Department in Luhansk Oblast, Police Captain Hanna Turchanykova.

The cadets familiarized themselves with the principles of operation of the “Safe City” system, its technical capabilities and practical application in the activities of law enforcement agencies.

Emphasis was placed on the role of such systems in identifying persons involved in the commission of criminal offenses, increasing the level of public safety and prompt response to offenses.

The cadets also considered examples of the use of video analytics in practical activities, the procedure for working with databases and algorithms of actions during the identification of persons.

As a result of the class, the cadets received basic knowledge regarding the functioning of video surveillance systems, understanding of their importance in modern law enforcement activities and formed skills for the effective use of digital technologies in official practice.

Such classes contribute to the formation of professional skills of future law enforcement officers, expand their practical knowledge in the field of modern security technologies and strengthen the interaction between educational institutions and police units.
