Academic Mobility Programs

International academic mobility provides participants with the opportunity to study, teach, intern, or conduct research at a foreign institution of higher education.

According to the place of implementation, academic mobility may be:

  • Internal academic mobility, the right to which is exercised at partner higher education institutions in Ukraine;
  • International academic mobility, the right to which is exercised at partner higher institutions outside Ukraine.

According to the field of activity, academic mobility may be:

  • educational academic mobility;
  • scientific academic mobility.

According to the forms of implementation, academic mobility may be:

  • full-time academic mobility, which involves the physical movement of the participant to the partner educational institution;
  • distance academic mobility, which involves interactive interaction with the participant and is achieved using appropriate information and communication technologies.
  • mixed academic mobility, which involves a combination of face-to-face and distance academic mobility.

The main types of academic mobility are:

  • degree mobility: studying at a higher education institution for the purpose of obtaining a higher education degree, which is confirmed by a document on higher education or on obtaining a higher education degree from two or more higher education institutions;
  • credit mobility: studying at a higher education institution for the purpose of obtaining ECTS credits or relevant competences; study results that will be recognized by the State University of Higher Education or the higher education institution of a foreign participant in the educational process. Nevertheless, the total period of study for such participants under credit mobility programs remains unchanged.

A person who meets the following requirements is eligible for academic mobility:

Citizens of Ukraine, foreigners, stateless individuals, individuals granted the status of a foreign participant, individuals recognized as refugees, and individuals in need of additional protection who obtain an education or degree on a full-time basis or work at the main place of work at DSUIA.

DSUIA implements academic mobility programs jointly with Magnus University (Lithuania) and Jan Kochanowski University (Poland).. Academic exchanges between higher education students are arranged within the framework of memoranda of cooperation between partner universities.

Within the framework of the ERASMUS+ international agreements, academic mobility with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (Romania), the Alexander Ioan Cuza University in Iași (Romania), and the Police Academy (Romania) provides higher education students with the prospect of pursuing their studies through scholarship programs.

Academic mobility allows scholars to study at European universities and take part in international scientific and practical meetings, forums, and various cultural occasions.

Language of study

Academic mobility initiatives require proficiency in the English language. Students will also have the opportunity to take courses taught in the language of the country where the host educational institution is located (individual consultations with the coordinator).

Who is eligible to participate in this competition?

Bachelors (2-4 year of study) or 1st year master’s students of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs in the following specialties:

  • Economy
  • Business administration
  • International relations
  • Law enforcement activities
  • Law
  • Psychology

How to apply for the competition:

  • Apply for the competition in the name of the head of the Institute of Law and Innovative Education.
  • The competition should be passed based on the following criteria: an average score; participation in scientific endeavors (accessibility of scientific publications: abstracts of conferences, scientific articles, etc. ); participation and triumph in educational, scientific competitions, and Olympiads (diplomas of winners of the I-III degrees); availability of a recommendation letter or minutes of a departmental meeting; the presence of a motivational letter, which determines the orientation towards self-development; availability of proof of proficiency in a foreign language (not below B2)
  • Find the program and choose courses (in the catalogs of selected universities).

The selection of individuals for participation in academic mobility programs is carried out by the competitive commission of DSUIA in accordance with the educational components offered by the partner institution and the individual curriculum provided by the educational program of DSUIA, and according to the above criteria, but not limited to them. The competition committee of DSUIA is entitled to establish additional criteria for the selection of participants for participation in academic mobility programs.

The field of training (specialty) of the participant must correspond to the list of educational components selected by the host partner institution and be part of the participant’s educational program.

The electronic application of the partner university must contain the following documents for participation in the academic mobility program administrated by DSUIA.

  • A copy of the first page of the foreign passport (valid for the duration of the program);
  • photo: 2 cm x 2.5 cm JPG, 236 × 295 pixels;
  • academic certificate translated into English;
  • a document certifying proficiency in the English language;
  • only for master’s students: educational documents—a bachelor’s diploma and a diploma supplement with a notarized translation into English. If, at the time of application, studies are in progress and the students do not have documents on the completion of their educational level, a certificate of academic success and confirmation from the university that the applicant is a student of the last year with an indication of the date of receipt of educational documents are submitted;
  • personal contact information.

 

NEW OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF ACADEMIC MOBILITY

Mitacs Globalink Research Internship

A 12-week research internship in Canada with university teachers from various scientific disciplines.

Categories of participants: 3rd-year students (for medical specialties, 5th year)

Disciplines: engineering, technical and mathematical, humanitarian, and social sciences.

Financial support: a stipend covering transfers, housing, medical insurance, attendance at events, workshops, and seminars on professional development.

Documents to be submitted: online application, CV with description of scientific interests, recommendation letter from the scientific supervisor, transcript of records in English.

Deadline: mid-September each year.

Scholarships of the Swedish Institute under the VISBY Program

Graduate students, post-graduate students, and scientists are eligible to apply for the VISBY Program, which entails obtaining a master’s degree or engaging in research for a duration of up to 6 to 12 months, contingent upon the status of the scientist.

Necessary documents: letter of motivation, letter of recommendation, CV, diploma, or transcript of records, foreign passport, tentative plan of research work, list of publications (if available).

Financial support: the scholarship covers all expenses (9,000–15,000 SEK/month, depending on the academic degree).

Study Tours to Poland

Study visits to Poland for individuals from Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia.

The objective of the program is to present the realities of Poland and the European Union, while also fostering and enhancing professional and personal connections between leaders from Eastern Europe and their Polish partners. The program’s target audience comprises scholars and professionals from a variety of disciplines and expertise.

Categories of participants: students from the 2nd year aged 18 to 21 years.

Duration of the visit: up to 12 days.

Financial support: accommodation in a hostel in the city of the stay program; three meals a day; partial reimbursement of travel expenses; assistance in obtaining a free visa for the period of participation in the STP.

Necessary documents: online application, foreign passport, transcript of grades for the last 2 semesters, letter of recommendation.

Deadline: January or June every year.

Latvian Government Scholarship

Under the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Education and Science between the Government of Latvia and Ukraine, Ukrainian students, postgraduates, and teachers are offered scholarships for studying, conducting research, teaching, and participating in summer schools at leading higher education institutions in Latvia.

Category of participants: students (from the 2nd year of study), graduate students, doctoral students, and teachers.

Duration of mobility: for students and postgraduates, up to 1 academic year; for doctoral students and teachers, up to 5 months.

The financial assistance is contingent upon the classification of the participant.

The application process is announced annually.

To join the competition, you need to get an invitation letter from a Latvian university and prepare the necessary papers.
