АЕРС Actions and Awareness Workshop on «Domestic Violence» was conducted on the basis of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs.
Representatives of Austria, The Netherlands, Czech Republic, Romania Finland, Latvia, Turkey and Ukraine took a part in this event.
Workshop continued on the basis of DSUIA for three days. The workshop considered general types of domestic violence, as well as psychological portraits of people who most often suffer from the actions of domestic aggressors.
The participants of the workshop presented the experience of countering domestic violence in different European countries. For example, in Finland, this problem manifests itself not only at the level of the police, but also of society as a whole. Police have developed effective concepts to counter. For example, victims of domestic violence are provided with ongoing psychological support at the start of the proceedings and immediately before the end of the trial. In addition, the aggressor may even be forbidden to approach his own home.
As representatives of countries mentioned, police cooperation with various social services is also important for an effective response to domestic violence.
The workshop determined the level and peculiarities of the impact of long-term domestic violence on children, women and people with special needs. The participants of workshop also formed their own concepts and activities that are promising in the near future.
