The Second Place at Gender Quest

The team from Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs has won the second place among 24 teams under the results of gender quest, conducted in terms of “Through the Equality and Understanding to Protection and Security” project.

The quest was organized by Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs and Kharkiv Regional State Administration. The event aimed at implementing gender equality principles among cadets and scientific-and-pedagogical staff of higher educational institutions with specific conditions of education.

Over 120 cadets and students from security and defense HEIs of Ukraine competed for victory.

The competition included 3 parts: gender video-presentation, online presentation of an approach to implement gender equality and resolving the quest.

DSUIA team consisted of active cadets and students: Violetta Rets, Andrii Zhuk, Maksym Lozytskyi, Anastasiia Rusieva and Kateryna Makhtura. Larysa Nalyvaiko, DSUIA vice-rector, Iryna Hrytsai, rector’s deputy in gender issues, and Yevheniia Minakova, senior lecturer at the General Legal Disciplines Department, had prepared the team for participation in the competition.

Kateryna Levchenko, government authorized person for gender policy, was the head of the jury, which was evaluating teams’ work. The jury consisted of the following members: Valerii Sokurenko, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs; Margarita Vasquez, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine; Solomiia Rozhko, expert in regional cooperation of the EUAM Regional Representation in Kharkiv; Olha Perunova, head of the Department for Respecting Gender Equality of the MIA of Ukraine; Dariia Velyhodska, communication manager of the Gender Culture Center; Volodymyr Ihnatiev, deputy director of the Department of Science and Education of Kharkiv Regional State Administration; Olena Dashutina, head of the Department for Monitoring Gender Equality and Combatting Domestic Violence Coordination at the Respecting Human Rights Office of the National Police of Ukraine; Tetiana Baieva, Civil Expert Council in Gender at the microfinance organization “Equal Opportunities” from “Security and Defense Sector” group; Serhii Shtukarin, specialist in human rights of the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine; Olena Suslova, head of the Informational and Consultation Female Center.

In 2020, DSUIA joined the quest for the first time and won the first place. This year DSUIA team represented the University online following quarantine restrictions. Our team members noticed interesting presentations of their peers and extracted a number of new ideas to implement gender equality principles at DSUIA.
