Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs will host a series of seminar-trainings for special police units titled “Basics of Special Tactics of Special Police Units under the Scandinavian Model of Providing Public Security and Order during Major Events”. This was agreed between Andrii Fomenko, DSUIA Rector, police colonel, and specialized team of trainers in public order represented by Guardia Civil (Spain).
Rector Andrii Fomenko presented the peculiarities of cadets’ training at the university and stressed key projects and innovations implemented in the educational process as well as significance of international cooperation.
“We have established fruitful collaboration ties with international partners in training future and acting police officers. Thus, the OSCE trained mobile groups reacting to the cases of domestic violence (“POLINA” project) on the basis of the University. Besides, ICITAP and our trainers trained community police officers. The first graduations have taken place at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs”, Andrii Fomenko said.
In particular, Rector added that DSUIA was a member of the Association of European Police Colleges, in the result of cooperation with which a workshop on combating domestic violence with the participation of 16 countries had already been held on the basis of the institution.
“We systematically conduct trainings and workshops on the application of the Scandinavian model of public order provision during major events. In addition, the relevant discipline will already be taught at the University this academic year. We are open for cooperation in this area and are ready to share our own experience”, Rector summed up.
Jens Hesselberg Moeller, the EUAM Public Order Advisor, expressed his hope for further fruitful cooperation and gratitude for the opportunity to conduct trainings on the basis of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs.
“We are grateful for the openness of your institution and hope that joint developments will be reflected in future projects. As part of our trainings, we also plan to authorize relevant trainers, who we will train in Ukraine. They will continue to train police officers in the field of public order”, the EUAM Advisor emphasized.
Fernando Magro Moros, Head of the Specialized Team in Public Order, presented the peculiarities of the seminar-trainings.
“Our team conducts trainings for police officers from special police units. The cycle includes 3 seminars, and participants will test acquired skills at final exams. Our goal is to jointly improve the knowledge needed to protect public order. We also invite specialists from your institution to participate in the trainings, as they will be able to master new effective concepts. Based on the results of the training process, we will invite the best participants to continue their studies”, Fernando Magro Moros stated.
It shall be mentioned that September 6 is the start date of the training series titled “Basics of Special Tactics of Special Police Units under the Scandinavian Model of Providing Public Security and Order during Major Events” on the basis of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs. The seminars will be conducted by the Specialized Team in Public Order trainers (Guardia Civil, Spain) as well as the EUAM and UNO experts. These trainings aim at basic preparation of special units of the National Police of Ukraine in public order and security provision with the application of the Scandinavian model.
