A Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs cadet saved a young man from suicide. The incident happened recently in Dnipro.

Yevhen Kafarov is a 3rd-year student at the Faculty of Training of Specialists for Criminal Police Units. That evening, the young man was returning home by tram. Before reaching the stop, the tram suddenly stopped.

“I understood that there was an obstacle ahead. When I looked out and saw a person lying in the middle of the tram tracks, I thought for a moment that he had already been hit. Fortunately, the tram stopped in time,” says the cadet.

Yevhen immediately rushed to the man, who was less than 25 years old: he pulled him away from the tracks and began to find out what had happened. The young man said that he decided to commit suicide due to personal reasons.

“What exactly prompted him to do such an act, the boy did not say. But taking into account that at first he generally showed aggression, after some time it was possible to establish minimal contact with him. He noted that he moved here from Dobropill, Donetsk region. But when I asked why he decided to commit suicide, the young man just started crying”.

The cadet of the Military Police Department called the police, and after waiting for their arrival at the scene, explained all the circumstances.

“In practice, I’ve been in such stressful situations more than once, so in general I’m not lost,” says Yevhen Kafarov. – I understand very well that under no circumstances should a person be left in such a state because the situation is not simple. If I left him at this stop, he could run under the next tram”.

It should be noted that the cadet is expected to be awarded for exemplary performance of official duties at DSUIA.
