DSUIA cadets have undergone training at NABU’s Anti-Corruption School

Cadets of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs were trained at NABU’s Anti-Corruption School 2023. The training was held online.

DSUIA’s staff of teachers and scientists always stands up for diverse cadet’s teaching, especially by profession. Thus, Oleksandra Kovalenko and Vadym Bolgarenko cadets were selected for studying at the Anti-Corruption School of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

The DSUIA representatives were chosen to be trained among 592 applicants. On behalf of the University 50 participants took part in the competition despite the fact that the competition mentioned reached more than 10 applicants per position.

The cadets were informed on top-corruption investigations and met leading international experts, representatives of Anti-Corruption bodies and public figures. Particularly, students had meetings with Elanas Jablonska, the Deputy Director of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania, and Benas Aldakauskas, the Head of Anti-corruption Education Division at Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Lithuania. They shared information about the system of anti-corruption bodies in Lithuania, algorithms for investigating corruption crimes in their country, and gave examples from their own experience. Communication with international experts took place in English.

Within the week of studying at the Anti-Corruption School students participated in discussions and master classes, performed practical tasks and developed creative projects. Oleksandra Kovalenko and Vadym Bolgarenko presented their educational project “Interactive theater performance “What is the price of truth?” during their studying at the NABU School.

According to the authors, the performance “What is the price of truth?” must take place in the quest room. Viewers will have the opportunity to influence the course of events to help the main character called Maxim, who is a kind, young and fair officer in uncovering a dangerous corruption scheme. After defining the problem, the game begins and the audience “writes” their scenario. According to the results of the competition, the final work of the cadets of the DSUIA took the third place among the works of other participants, in total 26 projects were presented.
“I am delighted at being selected for the NABU’s Anti-Corruption School, studying there turned out to be extremely interesting, useful and pleasant. I ensured how strong the NABU’s potential is. It must be further developed by joint efforts. I became more knowledgeable in the field of anti-corruption activities, took part in the discussions with speakers, and met like-minded people. I would like to keep on working, to execute projects for the support of our country”, – mentioned Oleksandra Kovalenko, a DSUIA’s cadet.

Students of the higher educational institution have successfully undergone training at NABU’s Anti-Corruption School, significantly deepened their knowledge, improved their skills and received the proper certificates after the completion of the project.

The project “Anti-Corruption NABU’s School” is implemented and supported by European Union Anti-Corruption Initiative (EUACI) that is a leading anti-corruption program of assistance in Ukraine, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
