Optional Class on the Psychological Characteristics of Children Who Have Become Victims of Sexual Violence

The class was conducted by the senior lecturer of the Department of Humanities and Psychology of Police Activities at DSUIA, Katerina Mitchenko, for master’s students of law and specialists preparing for units of the National Police at DSUIA.

Participants learned to recognize signs of psychological trauma, even when a child does not speak about what happened. They mastered the principles and methods of providing primary psychological assistance and the algorithm of actions for a police officer when identifying a child who has suffered from sexual violence.

The instructor is confident that training specialists who can react correctly and emotionally sensitively to such cases is an important step towards protecting children and ensuring justice.
