Cadets of the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs attended a lecture delivered by Norwegian counterparts.
Students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Training Specialists for Units of the National Police and the Faculty of Training Specialists for Units of the Criminal Police attended a lecture by Ivar Andre Fahshing from the Norwegian Police College titled “From Interrogation to Procedural Interview – Changes in Approaches”.
The lecture aimed to highlight the importance of interviews within the judicial process, focusing on the fundamental principles of conducting safe interviews with victims, witnesses, and crime suspects. The discussion also addressed the delicate nature of human memory and human factors in decision-making.
Participants exchanged experiences regarding interrogation practices and their correlation with false accusations. Towards the end of the lecture, Mr. Fahshing elaborated on alternative methods of evidence collection and analysis, as well as procedural management.
The lecture was conducted in English for members of the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC), of which the Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs is a participant. This provided an opportunity for cadets not only to practice comprehending information in a foreign language but also to observe how professional vocabulary is utilized in professional discourse.
