Representatives of Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs (DSUIA) took part in a conference marking the first anniversary of the Gender Center at the National University “Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratyuk” titled “Right to Be Yourself”.
The event was organized with the support of the UN Women within the framework of the EU4Recovery project aimed at strengthening the capacity of communities in Ukraine. The project is financially supported by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women.
The welcoming remarks to the participants were delivered by the Rector of the National University “Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratyuk,” Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine Volodymyr Onyshchenko. Representatives of international organizations, various institutions, and regions also joined in the opening remarks. The conference was moderated by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Psychology, and Pedagogy for Educational and Educational Work, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies, Culture, and Document Studies at the National University “Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratyuk,” Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Irina Denysovetz.
Representatives from DSUIA who participated in the online format included Larisa Nalyvaiko, Assistant to the Rector of the State University on Gender Issues, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine; Liliya Mezhevskaya, Deputy Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Innovative Education, Candidate of Law Sciences, Associate Professor; Tsagik Oganesyan, Senior Researcher of the Research Laboratory on Legal Status Issues of Internally Displaced Persons and Gender Equality, Candidate of Law Sciences, Associate Professor; Vita Kononets, Head of the Research Laboratory on Issues of Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, Doctor of Law, Professor; Natalia Karnaukh, Head of the Social and Humanitarian Work Department, Police Lieutenant Colonel; adjuncts Tetiana Badalova and Yulia Tkach.
During the conference, the participants listened to the report on the first year of the Gender Center’s activities by the head of the Gender Center at the National University “Poltava Polytechnic named after Yuri Kondratyuk,” Olena Dubinka. In particular, the project “Ambassadors of the Gender Center of Poltava Polytechnic” was presented, and Natalia Novikova, Head of the Activities Support Sector of the Patrol Police Department in Poltava Region, a member of the Board of the Ukrainian Association of Women Law Enforcement Officers, was invited to speak. Additionally, a training session on the topic “Right to Be Yourself” and a screening of the HeForShe movement’s film “Stereotypes Won’t Decide for You” were conducted for conference participants. As a result of the collaborative work and active discussions, participants summarized the ideas, plans, and prospects developed during the networking session.
