Cadets of the Dnipro State University of Internal Affairs attended a series of optional classes organized by the Department of Criminal Procedure and Strategic Investigations.
Students of the Institute of Law and Training for Specialists of the National Police learned how to counter organized crime in the sphere of public procurement.
Future police officers familiarized themselves with typical schemes used by criminals to embezzle budget funds, learned about the peculiarities of documenting and investigating such criminal offenses. Ultimately, the sessions provided practical skills that will help future law enforcement officers effectively combat organized crime in the field of public procurement.
The second optional class focused on the peculiarities of conducting interrogations using the procedural interview method during the investigation of crimes in wartime conditions. Professor Victoria Rogalska from the department and the head of the detectives department at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, Serhiy Rokun, together with the cadets, discussed the innovative interrogation technique, which is successfully used in law enforcement agencies of other countries and is a standard for investigations of the International Criminal Court.
Future police officers learned about the purpose, stages, procedure, and practical implementation of the technique in the activities of pre-trial investigation bodies. Under the guidance of the lecturers, they practiced conducting interrogations of witnesses to war crimes using the procedural interview method.
The knowledge and skills obtained will be useful to the cadets in fulfilling their official duties.
