The training was titled “Features of Work on Prevention and Counteraction to Violence in Families of Servicemen Who Participated in Combat Actions and Exhibit Aggressive Behavior Towards Family Members.”
The event was conducted by Kristina DEREVYANKO, a lecturer at the Department of Administrative Law, Process, and Administrative Activity, and moderated by Larisa NALYVAYKO, Assistant to the Rector of the university on gender issues, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
The main goal of the training was to discuss issues related to holding servicemen administratively responsible for committing domestic violence. Speakers emphasized that the approach to domestic violence should no longer be formal in modern society and that each case is individual. Attention was also focused on communication peculiarities with servicemen who have experienced trauma due to combat operations.
Discussions were joined by acting head of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory for Preventive Activities Training of the Faculty of Training Specialists for Preventive Activities, Associate Professor, Police Major Irina DROK; head of the Psychological Support Department Serhiy VYSHNEVSKY; senior research fellow of the Educational and Scientific Laboratory for Research of Legal Status Problems of Internally Displaced Persons and Gender Equality, Associate Professor, Candidate of Juridical Sciences Tsagik OGANISYAN; and specialist of the Psychological Support Department Taïsa PIDGORNA. Approximately 200 participants attended the event, including social service experts from Dnipropetrovsk region, police officers, community leaders, chief specialists in child affairs, heads of departments for family and gender policy, psychologists, and others.
Speakers analyzed situations and developed action algorithms in the form of specific practical cases. They also discussed proposals for developing a modern standard program for perpetrators, which will address the issues identified during the training. Participants were invited to take an online survey on the root causes and triggers of domestic violence in families of servicemen.
As a result of the training, participants will be able to apply the skills and knowledge acquired during the training in practice.
