NEWS

A student from the Driving School at Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs successfully passed the practical exam and received a Category C1 driver’s license.

Ihor started his training at the Driving School based at DSUIA in February 2024. Already holding a Category B license, he decided to improve and expand his driving skills by obtaining a Category C1 license. The military veteran assured that the instructors are polite, experienced, and patient, genuinely concerned, and thoroughly explain everything, sharing the excitement for the results with their students.

Thanks to the hours of practice (Ihor spent over 40 hours practicing), he got used to the vehicle’s dimensions easily, so by the time of the exam, Ihor felt quite confident. Among the specific aspects that differentiate driving in Categories B and C1, he mentioned skidding and turning, as well as the unique traffic patterns and density in the city of Dnipro. Today, the former military man confidently looks into the future and shares that his job will most likely be related to trucks, so the Category C1 driver’s license is his direct pass to employment in his new life.

Ihor is confident in the benefits of the Ministry of Internal Affairs project “Without Barriers,” as it allows people with disabilities affecting their musculoskeletal system to obtain driver’s licenses of any category, with the only difference being the number of required practical hours.

The first vice-rector of DSUIA, Ihor MAGDALINA, and the deputy head of the Regional Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, Roman KUCHURIN, congratulated the military veteran.

The unique project of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is implemented within the framework of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment and initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena ZELENSKA, “Without Barriers.” The project aims at social adaptation to public life and equal opportunities for all people with disabilities (musculoskeletal disorders) who aspire to acquire driving skills.

The services available to students include modern vehicles with hand controls and experienced instructors for both theory and practice. Students of the driving school undergo training on specially equipped trucks (3.5-7.5 tons) with hand controls. The facility offers all the necessary conditions for a comfortable stay, including ramps at the entrance, separate restrooms, and a multimedia classroom.

The Driving School for People with Disabilities based at DSUIA invites you to train on vehicles with hand controls.
